The Bulgarian government is working on a National programme for the inclusion of the Roma population, Interior Minister Tsvetan Tsvetanov said, speaking at parliament, FOCUS News Agency reporter informs. The interior minster was answering to a question by MP Milena Hristova, who asked what the government has done over the last couple of years in terms of improvement of the life of the Bulgarian Roma population.
"The issue concerning the Roma is very topical not only in Bulgaria but also in the entire EU," Tsvetanov remarked. By the end of the year each EU member state should present a Roma inclusion strategy. "We make great effort for the policy on the Bulgarian Rome," Minister Tsvetanov added and explained there were infrastructure projects worth BGN 16 million aiming to improve the regions inhabited mainly by Roma people. The strategy will be discussed by the Bulgarian cabinet on November 14.
